Albanian striker, hit 44 in 70 games. 6ft 1 can score with his head and a better record at Rapid Vienna than Jellyfish. Contract up in the summer so fee wouldnt be too much.

also contrary to the rumours going about, Lenny says in that article that we probably wont be getting him on trial as he is already aware of what he can do and well his goalscoring record and ability speaks for itself.

Aye Just shows typical scottish paper, no qoutes no sources. Just shows half the player were linked with Celtic have never even seen never mind contacted.

But 27-year-old Salihi – who is out of contract in the summer, and has so far rejected the offer of a new deal from Rapid – could be the target man to give them the attacking boost the manager believes they need.
Lennon said: "He is a player we have known about from the Jelavic days. He might be an option, but I have nothing further to say on that."
One suggestion was that Salihi might be joining Ibrahim on ‘trial’ at Lennoxtown.
But, given his track record, both for Rapid Vienna and Albania, and the fact several other clubs across Europe have been tracking him, Lennon accepts it is highly unlikely this would be acceptable to the player or his representatives.
The Parkhead boss said: "He is a good player, and we know what he can do. If he came in on trial, even better. But I don’t think that will be the issue."

CELTIC can land new strike target Hamdi Salihi for a cut-price £500,000 – after Rapid Vienna coach Peter Schoettel confirmed the Albanian ace is set to leave this month.
The 27-year-old has rocketed into the reckoning for a move to Parkhead after manager Neil Lennon admitted an interest.
Salihi, who has filled the scoring void left by Nikica Jelavic following his £4million move to Rangers 18 months ago, is on his way out of the Austrian club after failing to agree a contract extension.
And Rapid are willing to accept a fee of just £500,000 as opposed to seeing Salihi quit for nothing in the summer.
Coach Schoettel has resigned himself to Salihi, who has netted 44 goals in 70 appearances, leaving if the club’s valuation is met. He said: “Rapid are open to having transfer talks over Hamdi. If there is a matching offer he can go.”
Salihi was a star under former boss Peter Pacult but the poacher has struggled to adapt to Schoettel’s new counter-attacking system.
And Lennon could now make a swoop. The Celtic boss said: “He is a player we have known about from the Jelavic days. He might be an option.”
English sides are also looking at the striker but Salihi insists he will be selective when it comes to choosing a new club.
He said: “I would be interested in a team with a big name who fits my style.”
QPR ace Jay Bothroyd is another option for Celtic but the sacking of manager Neil Warnock may see the Loftus Road fringe players offered a fresh chance.
Lennon will also spend this week looking at 20-year-old Nigerian winger Rabiu Ibrahim in a Lennoxtown trial.
The striker has an impressive one-in-three record for his country having started his career at his home town club KS Vllaznia Shkoder. In 2004, Salihi moved to Panionios in Greece before returning to his homeland to join KF Tirana and onto a spell at SV Reid in Austria.
Two-and-a-half years ago, he joined Rapid, but the relationship is coming to and an Glasgow a possible next port of call.

not made up, lennon has confirmed we are looking and today it has been announced that we can have him for 500,000.  He has also came out and said hed welcome a move.

I would almost guarantee that this guy would score goals given the chance.

Get this deal done quickly neil, if there is no chance of us signing Rhodes or Baba(which is likely) then get this guy in.

I actually doubt we could get a more prolific player for this cheap in europe at least anyway. Cant think of anyone else?
